Homebuilders Survey Records Improvement, Will New Home Sales Follow? The Housing Market Index (HMI) of the National Association of Home Builders rose to 16 in May from 14 in April. The HMI has advanced in three out of the four months ended May. Sales of new single-family homes rose 8.2% in February and edged down 0.6% in March. The sales tally for new single-family homes during April will be published on May 28. There is a strong positive correlation with the HMI and actual sales of new homes
